To some extent, I avoided talking about those things during The Glass Passenger with the whole "I'm in my mid '20s and I'm married now" thing.

In the case of this record, it was certainly an effect of watching the people I sort of had grown up with and the people that I'm close with entering a different period of time in their lives. But it certainly became a little bit of a shining light onto how I would move forward and do my best to maybe even talk about some of the trickier elements of what that kind of a relationship is like.ĪM: Yeah, I think for me, the process is just trying to be my best, to be as open to what's happening in my life, and finding ways to interpret that. When I started working on this record, "My Racing Thoughts" was sort of the first thing that came out, and it was sort of a picture-granted, it was a window into maybe one of the harder moments in those first few years. With the way things played out with The Glass Passenger-the last album-and it being so much about my recovery and about that period of time in my life, there was sort of this window of the first couple, three years of my being married that kind of ended up falling to the wayside as it related back to my writing.

I think, largely, they just take on the moment in my life that I'm in when I'm writing them, and certainly, themes develop from there. I think, like anything-and especially with Jack's Mannequin-all the records have had some sort of conceptual bent to them. Thanks for listening and perhaps I am totally off on my thoughts.AM: Yeah. Personally I think your sound should have been on several movie soundtracks already, it just has that feel. You have a classic, authentic and great sound, you all look great on camera and perhaps when the bubble pops of this nonsense of reality shows making relentless talent-less people stars and millionaires, you guys have made enough money to stick with it and the world will find you. I think the time isn't right, if this came out post 9/11 you would be everywhere, the charts are now controlled my other mediums besides music itself, meaning.and this makes me throw up a little in my mouth, shows like the Kardashians, TMZ even CNN, it seems whatever person that is in the music industry who is also sensationalized for every other thing OTHER then the music, they are the ones on the charts, at least the contemporary charts.

Now the bad news and by no means am I a professional critic, but only a possible reason your not topping the charts.

I have to say, I'm a huge Stevie Nick's fan and I hear a lot of Fleetwood Mac in your style, a sound that's kinda "On The Fence", meaning a little pop, touch of country, mid-America rock. I was just wondering if it was a fluke or you knew of the group of producers called Star's on 45. I was a club DJ back in the 80's and was wondering if you got your name from the music remixers called "Stars on 45", which was famous for remixing non dance (Disco for the time) songs and remix them adding elements for the massive explosion of dance clubs in Europe right before communism fell as well as the niche market of gay nightclubs which where the most exposure was. Thanks for listening and perhaps I am totally off on my thoughts.
